Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers admitted he was disappointed after learning that midfielder Lucas Leiva was set to be sidelined for up to two months.
The Brazilian sustained a knee injury in the weekend's 2-2 draw with Aston Villa forcing Rodgers to prepare for life without his services for the next little while.
"I am disappointed for Lucas because he's been very, very important for our squad this season," he said.
"It was something that was innocuous really and has put him out for a few months.
"Hopefully, he'll get back sooner rather than later. In the meantime that leaves us short of a really good player."
