When Dejan Lovren headed in a 91st minute goal to secure a remarkable comeback win for Liverpool in their Europa League quarter-final tie with Borussia Dortmund on Thursday, Twitter went into meltdown.
And it has now emerged that Liverpool's victory over the Bundesliga side managed to set a new UK record on Twitter in the process.
Statistics show that upon the final whistle at Anfield, 56,000 tweets-per-minute registered on the social network site at its peak - meaning Liverpool's win on Thursday was the most talked-about moment on Twitter in the UK so far this year.
To add, Lovren's goal triggered off 53,000 tweets to be sent per minute - the third-highest in the UK this year - ensuring the Reds have managed to account for two of the three most-tweeted about moments of 2016 in the space of four minutes.
In total, more than two million tweets about Liverpool's game with Dortmund were sent.
