Liverpool midfielder Lucas admits he is excited about summer signing Alberto Aquilani getting his first start or the club despite the fact he might be the one making way.
The former AS Roma man will step out from the first whistle for Liverpool when they take on Fiorentina at Anfield in a Champions League dead rubber this week and Lucas says it will be a great moment for the team.
"It's exciting that Alberto is going to get his first chance and we're all looking forward to it. We will give him all the support and respect he needs," said Lucas.
"Hopefully he will do a really good job for us. When you have been out for a long time injured, it takes a while for you to get your rhythm back.
"But it's easy to see in training that he's got quality on the ball and we hope he's going to help us.
"People will make comparisons between him and Xabi Alonso, but he is a different player to Xabi. He is more attacking and we can all see that he is going to play in a more advanced role.
"He is going to need some time to settle and we will do everything to make that happen quickly."
