Liverpool's Jones now focusing on FA Cup semi-final

Brad Jones says he is simply focusing on this weekend's FA Cup semi-final after being thrust into the Liverpool goalkeeping spotlight.

The Reds have been hit with somewhat of a keeping crisis with red cards to number one Pepe Reina and his reserve Alexander Doni who are both ineligible to take on Everton at Wembley on Saturday.

Australian gloveman Jones, who came on to make a penalty save in the 3-2 win over Blackburn Rovers last night after Doni was sent off, admits the fact he is playing in such a big match this weekend has not sunk in but insists he will do everything he can to prepare properly for it.

"It hasn't really sunk in yet," the 30-year old said.

"It is not something I've been thinking about to be honest but it is a big game and now it is about preparing for that and making sure I am focused and ready.

"These things can happen, as it proved for Doni coming in a couple of days ago (after Reina was suspended).

"You just have to be prepared and have it in your mind that it could happen at any time.

"That is the thing being a goalkeeper on the bench - it could happen, but 99 per cent of the time it doesn't.

"It's going to be a big occasion against Everton. I have to make sure I do the right things and it's going to be an extra special day.

"It's massive just to be a Liverpool player. I'm as proud as anyone to do that and be part of this club."
