Liverpool's Enrique rejects Man Utd claims that Suarez is a diver

Liverpool left-back Jose Enrique has backed teammate Luis Suarez after he was labeled a 'diver' by Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson last week.

The Uruguayan has been criticised for going down too easily and it again occurred on the weekend in the 1-1 draw with Norwich City when he and Marc Tierney clashed with referee Peter Walton waving away his protests.

Enrique feels that Ferguson was wrong in his assertions of Suarez and the Spaniard even made the controversial statement that he thinks the United players are the ones who flop about whenever they are touched.

"The truth is that it should have been a red card for their defender because he kicked Luis," Enrique told reporters after the Canaries draw.

"Last week, [Sir Alex] defended his team because we played them. The truth is Luis is a really dangerous player and is a really nice guy. He doesn't dive.

"Some of the Manchester United players [go down like they] dive into the swimming pool. They defend their team, we defend our team - that's normal.

"When you lose two points at home, no-one is positive but Luis did really well. He had a lot of chances and was just unlucky."
