Liverpool midfielder Joe Cole is in danger of missing the clash with former club Chelsea because of injury.
The 28-year old hobbled out of the Reds' 1-0 win at Bolton on Sunday with a hamstring problem which may keep him off the training ground this week in the lead-up to the Anfield fixture with the Blues next weekend.
"He has a slight hamstring injury and we don't know the extent of it until after he has a scan," said Reds boss Roy Hodgson.
Hodgson said that injured forward Dirk Kuyt is a chance to return from an ankle problem.
"I think he will be available to be in the squad against Chelsea, but whether he is fit enough to play remains to be seen," he added.
"I think he will return to training towards the latter part of the week and then it is a question of seeing how well he can cope."
