Liverpool's Carragher tells critics - 'More to come from Gerrard'

Liverpool veteran Jamie Carragher has warned outsiders to not write off club captain and star midfielder Steven Gerrard. The England international has been sidelined since March with a groin injury and will not be back in action until at least September after having some complications with an infection following surgery on the problem.

With a history of injuries on his CV, plenty would think that Gerrard's best may be behind him but Carragher has indicated that writing him off would be careless.

"There's still plenty more to come from Steven Gerrard," said Carragher.

"He's one of the best, if not the best, player to play in the Premier League over the past decade.

"When Stevie is back playing it will be like we've just signed a great new player.

"He's still got four or five years ahead of him to play for Liverpool."
