Liverpool's Carragher happy for Gerrard after game No500

Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher is delighted for good friend Steven Gerrard after he made his 500th appearance for the club.

Gerrard reached the landmark in Liverpool's 0-0 draw at Blackburn Rovers yesterday.

"To be honest there's not much more I can say about Stevie that hasn't already been said," Carragher told liverpoolfc.tv.

"Not many players get to 500 games for one club. I've been very lucky to do it in my career. It's a magnificent milestone.

"I think there's still a lot more in Stevie's locker, probably a couple more hundred games for the club.

"When he finishes he'll go down alongside Kenny Dalglish as one of the greatest players to play for the club. Like Kenny was in his day, Stevie is a symbol for the club.

"It will be a sad day when he hangs up his boots, especially when you consider just how long he's been here and what he's helped us achieve.

"To get to 500 games is a fantastic achievement but, as I say, there's plenty more to come from him."
