Liverpool's Balotelli cops 8,000 abusive social media posts

Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli is football's most abused player on social media according to reports.

Statistics collated for anti-discrimination body Kick It Out suggest that the Italy international received around 8,000 negative posts between August 2014 and March 2015.

It is suggested that more than 52% of those abusive comments were seen as racist.

An estimated 134,400 examples of direct abuse were aimed at Premier League clubs and players during the aforementioned time with Chelsea the club to receive the most negativity.

The Blues reportedly received close to 20,000 abusive comments with Liverpool (19,000) and Arsenal (12,000) following.
