Left-back Fabio Aurelio is essentially playing for his Liverpool career in Bucharest tonight.
The 31-year old Brazilian was thrown a lifeline by Reds manager Roy Hodgson after initially being released last summer and knows he needs to perform against Steaua Bucaresti in the Europa League to show that he has overcome injury problems and that he indeed does have a future at Anfield.
"Of course, the injuries have been incredibly frustrating for me, and they have made my life at Liverpool very difficult," he said.
"But I can't afford to think too much about the past, because I have a future to think of. I am looking forward to the future, and I'm very positive about it - I would like to forget about the injuries.
"This season I had a minor injury problem at the start, but have been fit and training with my team-mates for most of the season, and I am ready for my opportunity.
"This is an important game for the team, and for me. You have to show up in every game when you wear a Liverpool shirt - every game there is a great responsibility, and this is a great opportunity for the young players in this side."
And Aurelio highlighted the importance of the club performing well in the Europa League.
"This is an important competition because it is a good chance to get a title. We want to get through as swiftly as possible, and we have the chance here so we must show the right mentality. For me, too, it is a chance to show I can still contribute," he added.
