Liverpool's appeal for Doni red card rejected

Liverpool's appeal to try and have Alexander Doni's red card overturned has been rejected by the Football Association.

The Brazilian goalkeeper was sent from the pitch for bringing down Junior Hoilett in the 25th minute of the Reds' dramatic 3-2 win over Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park on Tuesday night.

Liverpool appealed on the grounds of wrongful dismissal as they prepare for Saturday's FA Cup semi-final against Everton without first-choice keeper Pepe Reina, who is also suspended, but will now have to deal without Doni as well as his red card will stand.
