Liverpool have rubbished reports that Lucas Leiva could be sold.
The Brazil midfielder only signed a new contract in March after finally finding his feet, following a slow start to his Anfield career, to such an extent that he was voted Liverpool's Player of the Year.
However, it was claimed today that the 24-year-old was looking to move after seeing the club spend almost £50million this summer on midfielders Jordan Henderson, Charlie Adam and Stewart Downing.
The club has reacted swiftly to pour cold water on the story.
''There is nothing to say about this," said a Kop insider to the Mirror. "It is rubbish.''
