Southampton manager Mauricio Pellegrino is ready to bring Virgil van Dijk into the squad.

Yahoo Sport says talks are set to take place between Van Dijk and Southampton boss Mauricio Pellegrino in the coming days.

Pellegrino hopes to bring the £70m-rated star back into his first team.

Van Dijk was left out of the squad for a pre-season training camp in France after expressing his desire to leave St Mary's.

Liverpool thought they had won the race for Van Dijk last month after holding meetings with the player.

Chelsea have also been linked with a move for the Dutchman.
