Liverpool reserves coach Borrell happy with progress of fullbacks Smith, McLaughlin

Liverpool reserves coach Rodolfo Borrell is delighted with his young players' progress in the NextGen series.

In the absence of Jon Flanagan and Jack Robinson the coach has handed opportunities to teenage full-backs Brad Smith and Ryan McLaughlin and the pair certainly didn't let anyone down during the win last week at Molde.

"The fact that some of the players who could play are in the first team squad has given the likes of Brad and Ryan a chance and they did really well at Molde," he told liverpoolfc.tv.

"It's great for all of us to see Jon Flanagan and Jack Robinson with the first team because at the end of the day that is the main target for us."
