Liverpool to remain patient on Gerrard

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard will not be rushed back into the team before he is fully fit says manager Kenny Dalglish. The England midfielder has been sidelined since March with an ongoing groin injury which required surgery and Dalglish says it is important to be patient with such a problem.

Some reports suggested that Gerrard would make the Reds squad for the weekend's trip to Tottenham but Dalglish has indicated that he may sit out as he continues his recovery.

"Obviously Steven is progressing well," he said.

"We'll pick and choose when is best for Steven.

"We'll decide which game suits him best. We'll analyse his progress like we do with everybody.

"Everybody that is asked to play will be fit enough to play. We'll just wait and see - there is no rush. We've just got to use common sense."
