Liverpool and Real Madrid are going head-to-head for Rennes midfielder Yann M'Vila.
France Football says Liverpool chief Damien Comolli has been actively making enquiries after M'Vila and his interest in moving to England in June.
Real Madrid, where coach Jose Mourinho has pushed his board to explore the French transfer market more, have also been in contact with Rennes about M'Vila.
Comolli has a good relationship with Rennes and has impressed with his handling of Sylvain Marveaux's Bosman talks.
Rennes have informed Liverpool they want €15 million for M'Vila.
