Liverpool are ready to turn to Lazio defender Stefan de Vrij to solve their defensive concerns in January.

Calciomercato.com says the Reds will go for De Vrij as well as renewing their interest in Southampton stopper Virgil van Dijk.

But Inter Milan and Juventus will provide stiff competition and could be more appealing to De Vrij if he decides he wants to stay in Serie A.

De Vrij could be available on a free - his contract runs out next summer and talks with Lazio over a new deal have reportedly stalled.

A pre-contract offer could be tabled by the Reds in the New Year.
