Stoke City midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri is eager to move to Liverpool.
The Mirror says Shaqiri is keen on an Anfield switch, and a deal now looks possible if Stoke are willing to let him go close to the figure the Reds understand is contained in a break clause in his contract.
There is some confusion over that figure, with initial suggestions pinning the sum at around £12million after his club were relegated.
Liverpool wouldn't pay much beyond that price, with boss Jurgen Klopp not seeing him as a marquee signings, but a quality alternative to his front three, the 26 year old offering the pace and eye for goal to provide more strength in depth.
The Reds will take a step back from the transfer market over the next few weeks as the World Cup gets underway, but Shaqiri is possible once his country Switzerland exit the competition.
