Liverpool ready for Kent to join Bristol City - on one condition

Ryan Kent is close to joining Bristol City on loan, according to The Sun.

The 21-year-old was recalled from his loan spell with Freiburg last month. Kent endured a difficult time with the Bundesliga club, having made just six appearances and one start.

A number of Championship and lower league clubs have shown an interest in Kent, but Carabao Cup semi-finalists City have stolen a march on their rivals.

Still in the hunt for promotion to the Premiership, Lee Johnson's side lost 2-1 to Manchester City in the first-leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final tie on Tuesday night.

In order to secure Kent's services, Bristol have promised Liverpool the young winger will receive playing time.

But the Reds aren't taking any chances as they don't want another Freiburg situation. To make sure City hold up their end of the deal, Liverpool will include a hefty penalty if the Robins don't hand Kent enough appearances.
