Liverpool are pushing to land Feyenoord defender Stefan De Vrij.

The Sun says Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers was in Rotterdam on Sunday to see the £8million-rated centre-back help Feyenoord beat Eredivisie leaders PSV.

Rodgers has been quick to zero in on De Vrij, who is earning rave reviews for his stylish defending in the mould of former Kop star Alan Hansen.

And although De Vrij, 21, is under contract until 2014, he has a gentleman’s agreement that he can move if a top club comes in.
