Liverpool are reportedly keen to bring Tottenham's Roman Pavlyuchenko to the club in exchange for Ryan Babel. Reds manager Rafael Benitez is in desperate need of another striker to help Fernando Torres and believes the 27-year old Russian can be the man for the job.
Benitez is believed to be sick of Babel's constant questioning of why he is being kept out of the line-up and sees this as a perfect situation to bring in a capable goalscorer.
In this situation, however, Spurs will hold the key to the dealings as Liverpool are under financial strain and will be working with a minimal budget so Tottenham may ask for both Babel and cash for Pavlyuchenko.
Pavlyuchenko cost Tottenham £13.8million just over 15 months ago whilst Babel cost Liverpool £11.5million two years but is only 22 and would be better re-sale value.
