Liverpool pressure Arsenal in battle for FC Cologne's Podolski

Liverpool are rivaling Arsenal for FC Cologne star Lukas Podolski.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is keen to sign the Germany international, whose contract has less than 18 months to run.

However, Liverpool have made enquiries about Podolski's situation this week.

Aware of Liverpool's new approach, Cologne have moved to offer Podolski a new four-year deal worth €5 million-a-season. But for now, Podolski hasn't decided to stick or twist.
