Liverpool have reportedly swooped to sign River Plate striker Radamel Falcao from under the noses of Benfica. Falcao appeared set to sign for Portuguese outfit after River Plate paid off the £340,000 debt they owed on the player.
However, according to news daily A Bola, The Reds have lodged a late £3million offer to beat Benfica to the signing of the player.
Benfica and River Plate are thought to have agreed a £3.5 million deal, but the final decision now rests with Falcao.
