Liverpool pair Raheem Sterling and Danny Sturridge are in the middle of a sponsors battle.
The People says they are caught in the middle of a bizarre battle between sponsors Nike and revolutionary company Trusox.
Both wear Trusox support socks when they play for Liverpool, but Nike do not want them on show in England games.
Astonishingly, a Nike representative was allowed into Hodgson's dressing room an hour before the Denmark match to order the ban.
Sturridge and Sterling both followed orders, the red-hot striker scored the winner but also fell over and jarred his foot at one stage.
