Liverpool owners to review Anfield ticket prices

Liverpool's owners Fenway Sports Group are reportedly considering reviewing ticket prices after nearly 10,000 Reds supporters walked out of Saturday's draw with Sunderland in protest of the new pricing structure for next season.

The Daily Express is reporting FSG have been in discussions with Reds management since the mass walkout took place in the 77th minute of the fixture.

The Merseyside club had intended to increase ticket prices during the 2016/17 season in order to assist in funding the £120m development of the new Main Stand. The dearest ticket when the new Main Stand is open will be £77.

"The moment which preceded the walk-out also showed the strength of feeling, with the very loud, audible chants aimed at the directors' box," Spirit of Shankly supporter group spokesman Jay McKenna said.

"But the protest was aimed just as much at the owners because the decision of the prices is one made by Fenway Sports Group and the ownership of the club.

"For us, it is unequivocal: this is the start.

"It wasn't about letting off steam, and saying we are a bit angry but we will carry on. We really need Liverpool Football Club, the owners, and the executives to think to themselves 'is this the right approach?'"
