Liverpool owner John W Henry insists Brendan Rodgers has the board's full backing.

Liverpool are now 18th in the table, with Rodgers the 5-1 bookies' favourite to become the next manager for the chop.

But American Henry is a firm fan of Rodgers and said in an open letter to fans: "This is a work in progress. It will take time for Brendan to instill his philosophy into the squad and build exactly what he needs for the long term.

"No-one should doubt our commitment to the club."
