Liverpool's American owners have interrogated football chief Damien Comolli over their poor form.
John W Henry grilled the Kop's director of football during his trip to Boston last week.
A source close to the Anfield club revealed to the Sun on Sunday: "The owners are in no mood to stomach such a poor run of results and made it quite uncomfortable for Damien.
"People may suggest they don't know much about football, but they know an awful lot about money - and don't relish the idea of anyone wasting it for them.
"In all Kenny has spent in excess of £110m and the idea was to qualify for the Champions League where the real money is."
