Liverpool have joined the race for Rennes fullback Rod Fanni.

RMC says Liverpool's director of football strategy, Frenchman Damien Comolli, has held talks with Ligue 1 club Rennes' president Pierre Dreossi concerning a potential move for the full-back.

Marseille are thought to have retained an interest in the player despite having previously maintained that Rennes were demanding too much in exchange for the services of Fanni.
