Liverpool are ready to test Palermo's resolve in January for striker Abel Hernandez.

The Uruguay international is being tracked by Reds scouts, says Sportmediaset, having scored four goals in six games so far this Serie B season.

Liverpool are expected to open the bidding for Hernandez with a £4 million offer.

With Palermo struggling at the wrong end of the Serie B table and the prospect of promotion diminishing, the Merseysiders believe Hernandez will welcome an escape route out of Sicily.
