Middlesbrough have turned down an offer from Liverpool for goalkeeper Brad Jones. The Reds threw in a bid of around $AUD3.4million (£2m) for the 28-year old Australian gloveman but the Teessiders rejected the advances with manager Gordon Strachan looking to retain his number one.
New Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson wanted to bring in some cover for Pepe Reina and was reportedly hoping to tie up a deal in the next week or so but Boro's stance indicates that Jones will remain at the Riverside Stadium.
