Liverpool not planning to sell Emre Can this summer

Liverpool are not about to offload Emre Can, according to The Guardian.

The German midfielder has not yet signed a long-term contract with the Reds despite ongoing negotiations.

Can is under contract at Anfield until the summer of 2018 and could leave on a free when that arises, as the Merseyside club are not looking to sell at season's end.

It is understood that the 23-year-old has not agreed terms at this point in time due to his current role in Jurgen Klopp's team.

The former Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen man prefers a more deep-lying role as opposed to the attacking position that coincided with calf injuries in the first half of the season.

Klopp feels he can keep Can happy on Merseyside but Liverpool's resolve could be tested if a substantial offer is made in the summer window.
