Clarke admits he can see similarities between Suarez's seamless transition and that of his former Chelsea teammate Zola.
After arriving at Stamford Bridge midway through the 1996-97 season, the diminutive Italian's dazzling displays illuminated the Premier League and earned him the prestigious Football Writers' Player of the Year accolade - after just seven months in England.
"It's always difficult, especially for the foreign boys coming in, to make such a big impact," Clarke told Liverpoolfc.tv.
"If I had to pick one who made a similar impact it would maybe be Gianfranco Zola.
"I was at Chelsea at the time he came in, and I think in his first season he only played for seven months but got the Football Writers' Player of the Year award, which tells you he made a big impact.
"I see similar things in Luis, which is fantastic."
