Liverpool new boy Wijnaldum on target but Holland beaten by Greece

Georginio Wijnaldum scored but could not help Holland turn around their recent misfortunes against Greece on Thursday.

Danny Blind's Orange lost 2-1 to Michel Skibbe's Greeks in Eindhoven in a warm-up match ahead of World Cup qualifiers next week.

Liverpool's summer signing Wijnaldum gave Holland the lead on 14 minutes when he chested home a cross from Tottenham Hotspur's Vincent Janssen from close range but Greece were back in the contest 15 minutes later.

Kostas Mitroglou headed home Vasilis Torosidis' cross in the 29th minute before Giannis Giannotas pounced on Jeroen Zoet's spillage to slot home a 74th-minute winner for the visitors.

The Dutch are up against Sweden in their opening 2018 World Cup Group A qualifier in Stockholm on Tuesday while the Greeks take on Gibraltar in Portugal on the same day.
