Liverpool star Sadio Mane says he is happy to be compared with Reds legend John Barnes.

Mane has enjoyed a wonderful start to life at Liverpool and continued his barnstorming beginning with a scintillating performance during the 4-1 thumping of champions Leicester City at Anfield on Saturday.

Mane's early season form has already seen him being likened to Liverpool great Barnes and the winger has now stated that he is flattered to be compared to such a top player as he strives to do everything he can to get the Kop faithful on their feet.

The winger said: "When you play in a stadium like Anfield you want to give your best and get an ovation at the end, so I try.

"I'm just pleased because it is a great compliment to be compared to the legendary players, but I am still young and learning and need to give my best for the team."
