Liverpool move to trump Chelsea for Benfica star Markovic

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is pushing to trump Chelsea for Benfica winger Lazar Markovic. The Daily Star says reports in Portugal suggest Rodgers is keen to bring in the Serbian wideman as he looks to build a squad capable of challenging in the Champions League.

However, Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is also keen on the 20-year-old, who can operate across a host of forward positions.

£30 rated Markovic only joined Benfica from Serbian side Partizan Belgrade last summer.
