Liverpool are making a late attempt to sign VfL Wolfsburg fullback Ricardo Rodriguez.

The Mirror says the Reds will compete with Italian giants AC Milan for Rodriguez.

The 24-year-old Switzerland international left-back has been watched closely by scouts from both clubs, and initial contact has been made.

However, his Bundesliga employers will only consider doing business if their valuation — of around £18.5million — is met and neither of Rodriguez's suitors will go that high for the player.

Liverpool are also keen on Hull's Scotland international Andrew Robertson and Fulham teenager Ryan Sessegnon to revamp the problem position.
