Liverpool midfielder Jonjo Shelvey says his time on-loan at Blackpool was crucial in his development.

Shelvey is now a member of the England squad and a virtual first-choice at Liverpool.

He said: "Even if you had a bad game, you knew you would probably be playing next week and as a young footballer that is what you want. The players also had to wash their own kit. I didn't - my girlfriend did!"
