Liverpool midfielder Kevin Stewart's season is over after undergoing hernia surgery.

The 23-year-old went under the knife last Friday and won't be available for the rest of the campaign.

Stewart has had to settle for playing under-23s football since his last senior outing in the FA Cup tie with Plymouth in mid-January.

The midfielder signed a new five-year deal last November and has made 20 appearances for the Reds since arriving on a free transfer from Tottenham in 2014.
