Liverpool ace Philippe Coutinho has paid tribute to his former Inter Milan coach Rafa Benitez.

Coutinho says he learned plenty from the Spaniard during the short time together.

He told the Daily Star Sunday: "Rafa taught me quite a lot, especially in relation to the European way of playing football.

"In Brazil, if you play the position I do, you are not expected to track back or defend.

"When I went to Inter and worked with him, he changed that straight away. I was encouraged to get right back and be a part of the team defending itself.

"Now that will help to adapt for the loss of Steven Gerrard who is out for a month.

"I will do my best to represent Liverpool until he comes back from injury."
