Liverpool have met Joe Allen's buyout clause in his Swansea City contract. The Daily Mail says Liverpool are set to complete their second signing of the summer after they triggered the £15million release clause is Allen's Swansea contract.

The midfielder will now hold formal talks with the Merseyside club, although they are seen as merely a formality with the player keen to link back up with Brendan Rodgers.

Allen was the star of the show as Swansea shocked the Premier League under Rodgers last season, with their style of play dependent on the Welshman's ability to keep the ball ticking over in midfield.
