Liverpool manager Klopp: Nobody thinks about van Dijk fee anymore

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp lavished praise on his star central defender Virgil Van Dijk, stating that he has proven he's worth the £75m they paid Southampton in January for his services.

The Reds secured another clean sheet in the Premier League on Monday night, with Van Dijk and Joe Gomez ensuring Crystal Palace barely had a sniff at goal. Liverpool won the game 2-0 thanks to goals from James Milner and Sadio Mane. And Klopp had very good things to say about Van Dijk in particular.

He said: "It was really, really good. It's obvious. Quality costs a specific price, it's with cars like that, with a lot of things like that and with players well, that's why we paid it [the fee for Van Dijk]," he said to the club's official website.

"Nobody thinks about it anymore and that's good because he's a player in this market, in the moment, he's at least worth it.

"We don't know what will happen in the future [with transfer fees], but it's not important to us. He loves playing with these boys and that's the most important thing for me."
