Liverpool management upbeat over Gerrard injury

Liverpool are upbeat over Steven Gerrard's latest injury setback.

The Daily Mail says Liverpool are cautiously optimistic Steven Gerrard will be able to return to the club's Melwood training base before the end of the week to continue his rehabilitation from a groin problem.

The England midfielder was admitted to hospital for treatment with antibiotics over the weekend after an infection was detected in his groin.

Given the unusual and sensitive nature of the problem, there were initial concerns Gerrard had suffered a setback that would keep him out for an indefinite period.
