Oldham Athletic defender James Tarkowski will be auditioning for a Premier League move today against FA Cup opponents Liverpool.
The Reds, along with Manchester United, Everton and Stoke City are all keen on the 21 year-old.
"I'm a United fan," he told the Daily Star Sunday. "Could I go to Liverpool? If the opportunity came about it's something I would have to look at.
"I want to play at the top level if I can. Hopefully that time will come at some point but right now I'm happy where I'm at.
"I'm just lucky I'm still playing now.
"My contract was up in the summer and I wasn't aware that I was going to be getting a new one. But the new manager, Lee Johnson, came in and they offered me something to make me stay.
"Before that, I didn't know which way it was going to go. I had to start thinking about how to carry on with my career.
"But I had no other plans - I wanted to stay in football and try to get to the top."
