Liverpool are considering a surprise late swoop for Lazio attacker Mauro Zarate.

The Daily Express says Liverpool have a battle on their hands, with Sunderland and Stoke City believed to be keen on him too.

Sunderland in particular are looking to add more firepower up front, and appear to be closing in on a move for Swansea City's Danny Graham.

And Lazio could well part company with Zarate, as they want to free up funds and space in their squad.
