The 26-year-old has previous experience of playing in the Premier League with Manchester City after he spent the latter part of the 2006 season at Eastlands.

Since returning to Espanyol he has gone on to become a full Spanish international and has attracted interest from a number of clubs, although Liverpool have been leading the chase all summer.
