Wigan Athletic are aware of Liverpool's interest in midfielder Lee Cattermole.

The Independent says there have been enquiries from Liverpool about Cattermole, but the Wigan midfielder is still much further down the list of players in whom Rafa Benitez has a real interest.

Sunderland have confirmed their interest in Cattermole.
