Liverpool legend Souness: AVB never had chance at Chelsea

Liverpool legend Graeme Souness felt Andre Villas-Boas never had a chance at Chelsea.

Souness wrote in the Daily Star Sunday: "Whoever went in last summer to replace Carlo Ancelotti as boss had a massive job on his hands and needed something Villas-Boas didn't have - experience.

"I could never understand the change and, despite the success he had in Portugal with Porto, I felt for some time that he couldn't survive.

"What Chelsea were looking for was a manager who would win matches, lift trophies - but at the same time, make changes in the dressing room.

"And Chelsea have a dressing room full of big, experienced and hugely-wealthy players.

"It became Him v Them and because of the way the game has changed - through footballers becoming more powerful because of the money they earn - there was only one winner."
