Liverpool legend Tommy Smith has praised Dirk Kuyt for his contribution this season.
In his column for the Liverpool Echo, hardman Smith wrote: "Dirk has not enjoyed as productive a season as he has in the past - and the biggest difference has been the lack of goals he has supplied compared to past campaigns.
"So it was heartening to see him pop up with such an important late goal.
"There are one or two individuals in Kenny Dalglish's squad who I believe do not have the quality to be called Liverpool players.
"But Dirk Kuyt does not fall into that category.
"He sometimes takes a little flak from fans for a heavy first touch, but his work-rate and attitude is absolutely unquestioned and he does have that precious knack of providing crucial goals."
