In his column for the Mirror, Lawro wrote: "For example, his problem the other night in Bradford - because I was there - was that he didn't have enough people who wanted to stand up and be counted.
"Yes, you could argue that he bought nearly all those players and so it is down to him. And I would agree with that.
"But sometimes the players need to show a bit of leadership and its quite that many - if not all - of them are incapable of doing that.
"So Wenger is going to have to address that situation in January. He is going to have to bring in players that can galvanise the side when things are not going their way.
"Players with a bit of character that can drive the team to victory when they are not playing well.
"Players that are prepared to roll their sleeves up and get stuck in when the occasion demands it.
"They don't have to be English. Vieira and Petit come to mind straight away."
