Liverpool legend Mark Lawrenson slammed the Reds' centre-halves for their FA Cup mauling at Oldham Athletic.

Lawro wrote in the Mirror: "Liverpool defenders Martin Skrtel and Sebastian Coates will have had nightmares about Matt Smith last night.

"You wouldn't say that the Oldham striker was a supremely skillful footballer but talk about getting the best out of somebody on a certain day!

"He just bullied the Skrtel and Coates. He just threw himself at them. Why? Because he was prepared to get hurt hurting people.

"He was quite clever actually because he whacked both Skrtel and Coates early, then he looked at them as if to say: ' You're gonna get more of that! Let's see if you're up for it.'

"Coates backed away to square leg! And as a result it put Skrtel into all sorts of trouble. Oldham cashed in and well done to them."
